C-19 Travel Bans to be Lifted for Fully Vaccinated

Updated: Dec 2, 2022

In November 2021, White House plans to replace current travel restrictions currently in effect for China, Iran, the Schengen Area, U.K., Ireland, Brazil, South Africa, and India with vaccination and COVID-19 testing requirements for all foreign national travelers into the US. Remember, consulates may still have limited visa appointment availability, but this is still welcome news for many.

In place of these bans, foreign national travelers will be required to prove that they have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 along with a negative COVID-19 test within three days of boarding their flight to the United States. There are limited exceptions such as for children,  COVID-19 vaccine clinical trial participants, and humanitarian exceptions for some urgent travel with limited vaccine access. Those exempted may be required to be vaccinate upon arrival. The CDC will announce acceptable vaccines.
