H-1B Lottery Update: Important Announcement

H-1B visa

On July 30, 2024, USCIS announced a second H-1B lottery selection for the 2025 fiscal year. 🎟️ Employers registered in this year’s H-1B lottery may soon receive notifications in their USCIS accounts regarding the second round of selected registrations.

If your registration is selected, the notice will include crucial details on the location and filing deadlines. 📋 Make sure to stay updated, as USCIS will send another announcement once this second round of selections and notifications is complete.

What is an H-1B visa?

The H-1B visa allows foreign workers in “specialty occupations” to work in the U.S. in various jobs, including architecture, engineering, modeling, and health and medicine. Because demand for these visas is regularly the annual quota, most H-1B holders must process through the H-1B lottery. The H-1B visa offers many employment possibilities and is often the first step toward obtaining a Green Card.

H-1B Requirements

  • You must possess a practical application of specialized knowledge and a U.S. bachelor’s degree (or its equivalent) or higher.

  • The job must require a U.S. bachelor’s degree (or its equivalent).

  • You may not self-petition; a sponsoring employer must petition for you.

  • Spouses and unmarried children under 21 of an H-1B visa holder can accompany you as H-4 dependents. They are not authorized for employment unless they fall under particular exceptions. H-4 dependents may, however, attend school without obtaining a student visa.
