We are celebrating a heartwarming success. Garang Buk Buk arrived in the US on his F-1 student visa to begin his Masters in Development Practice program at Emory University’s Laney Graduate School after a group of Haddonfield, New Jersey High School Students raised funds for his US education and visa – see the Go Fund Me page. Garang survived war and tragedy in his childhood in South Sudan but managed to earn his Bachelor’s Degree Nairobi. Garang also helped his community develop their skills and prevent Guinea worm transmission through five years of work with the Carter Center in South Sudan. Garang is pictured here with his pro bono immigration attorney, Nisha Karnani, Emory University Sustainable Development Fellow, Hilary King, and Haddonfield Memorial High School English Teacher and one of his sponsors, Kimberly Dickstein.
