At Antonini & Cohen, we know how.

1:25 – DHS Voluntary Departure Program

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is offering a self-deportation program for undocumented individuals who wish to leave the United States voluntarily. Carolina stresses the importance of first consulting with an Antonini & Cohen attorney to determine whether this is the best option for you.

6:25 – Supreme Court Decision on Venezuelan TPS

The Supreme Court allowed the Trump administration to terminate the 2023 designation for Venezuelan TPS. Venezuelans holding TPS should consult with one of our Atlanta immigration attorneys to begin planning alternative options before the TPS designation officially expires.

11:47 – ICE Arrests at Immigration Courts

ICE officers are arresting some individuals outside immigration courts. Carolina explains that ICE targets those with a prior removal order, criminal conviction, or both. Failing to attend your court hearing could result in a deportation order.

16:58 – Asylum Case Denials Without Hearing

Some immigration judges are denying asylum applications without a hearing if the application lacks sufficient details or a legal basis. This particularly affects applicants who are not represented by a capable immigration attorney. Contact us today to schedule a consultation with one of our experienced Atlanta immigration attorneys.

19:18 – Credible Fear Screenings for Asylum Applicants

If USCIS closed your case within 2 years of your arrival in the US, you may be at risk of being placed in expedited removal.

24:58 – International Detention Centers

The Trump administration is exploring agreements with various countries, like El Salvador, to establish international detention centers. Carolina anticipates extensive litigation against use of the Alien Enemies Act to deport detainees to a third country.
